As part of an artisan profile for These Salty Oats, I recently documented Portland’s Darling Press Stationers’ newest project with several visits over three months. From August through November, I watched Jason and Alia Hoffman conceptualize and create two versions of a memory card game. Each weekday I visited, Jason and Alia were working on a different aspect of the memory game, with tasks that included sketching the cards’ illustrations, gluing paper, and finally, after waiting for the polymer plates to arrive, letterpressing the illustrations.
Because they operate their business out of their home, their work lives are punctuated by simultaneously caring for their children and running their household. You can see my full article HERE, on These Salty Oats.
