Light-Filled March Days

This is my third Spring in Portland and I still remain dazzled by the sudden emergence of buds and color. The transition into longer evenings offers a hint of Portland's summer golden hour: soft, sparkly light that always seems to extend longer than possible. We recently moved and our new house's backyard faces West, meaning that our kitchen--also at the back of the house--receives a final, blinding burst of peachy-red sun every evening around 7 (every evening that it's not raining, that is!).
