I have a new favorite day-trip in Oregon. Start with an invigorating hike up Neahkahnie Mountain. You'll pass through dense brush and wildflowers before entering into a thick forest. It's nonstop climbing for an hour until you reach the top. Most views at the top of a hike are worth it (or you sometimes just tell yourself that because you hiked that far!) but the aerial views of the coastline are breathtaking. Follow the hike with a trip to Short Sands Beach and watch surfers tackle waves, spot multicolored starfish, and stake out your own piece of this cove-sheltered beach.
